Year ends and odds

In the last hours of 2011, I thought I’d post a few interesting links.  In the months since I’ve started this blog, I’ve been amazed at how much is happening in the local food scene here in the Portland area and all around the world.

How about getting your CSA grain delivered by sailboat?

Or your food scraps picked up by bike by Bootstrap Compost and then returned as rich compost for your garden?

Isn’t it a good trend when you can find urban farm stores like Portland Homestead Supply Co. in the city?

My friend Debra sent me a link about a report from 30 years of research by the Rodale Institute that shows how organic farming is superior to conventional farming for feeding the world.  Since quantity of food is often the argument for using huge conventional farms, this report is timely and important.

And going forward into 2012, we can all be inspired by reading about all the young farmers like Jared Pickard who are starting up these amazing organic farms all over the country.

Happy New Year to all of you!
